Mary Louise "Mary Lou" Ardino

Mary Louise “Mary Lou” Ardino passed away on February 9, 2026, just days shy of her 84th birthday.

Born on February 15, 1942, in Depew, New York, Mary Lou was the beloved daughter of the late Theresa (nee Ezzo) and Pasquale Ardino. She was a devoted sister to Pat (Kathy) Ardino, and the late Frances Ackley and Phyllis Ardino.

She was a cherished aunt to Thomas (Melanie) Ackley, Anthony Ardino, and Nicholas (Ashley) Ardino, and the late Kim Ackley. Mary Lou also leaves behind several great-nieces and great-nephews who brought her much joy.

Mary Lou dedicated her life to helping others. After graduating from Buffalo State, she pursued a meaningful career in mental health counseling and later retired from Catholic Charities, where her compassion and kindness touched countless lives.

Her faith was at the center of her life. A devoted member of Our Lady of Pompeii Parish, Mary Lou served as a Eucharistic Minister and lector, and was deeply involved in many ministries. She also generously gave her time to religious education at the parish for a number of years. Mary Lou was a member of the Rosary Society, the Parish Bereavement Committee, and for 15 years offered comfort and guidance as a grief counselor with the GriefShare program. She was also known for her tireless efforts organizing the parish’s spaghetti dinners, bringing people together with warmth and generosity.

Beyond her parish, Mary Lou was an active member of the Zonta Club of Cheektowaga and Lancaster, where she continued her mission of service and advocacy.

In her later months, Mary Lou found simple joy in playing the piano at her home at The Amberleigh, sharing her love of music with those around her.

Mary Lou will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering faith, and the compassion she extended to everyone she met. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, service, and love that will not be forgotten.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 158 Laverack Avenue, Lancaster, NY 14086.
