The world lost a great soldier in the fight for human rights. You’ve made the world a better place while you were here, Joe. You will be truly missed. Sincerest condolences to Karen and family.

Joe was a good man and a close friend for over 30 years. We worked at DuPont together and went to many concerts together. After we moved to Myrtle Beach after retirement he came down to visit many times. Joe was also very smart and he also knew his history very well. He will be sorely missed, may he rest in peace.

We lived next door to Joe for years. He was the nicest, kindest person ever. He shared his driveway in the winter and he was always so good to our cat who would go visit him all the time. He made her a bed in his house and treated her like his own. He never made a big deal of noise from a houseful of kids and pets, or broken garage windows from flying hockey pucks - just laughed and asked how his aim was so bad. He will be greatly missed by all of us.

I am saddened by the news of Joe's passing. Over the 40 plus years as friends we drank, bowled, play golfed, went to concerts, shared a love of music/guitars (he would stop short of telling me I was a musician) discussed and debated, many of the world issues which will remain unresolved long passed my time on this earth.
He was an educated man, passionate about history and will be sorely missed.
Karen, having lost my sister a few years back, I know how difficult this is for you and the family. May time lessen the pain you feel, and memories of the moments shared together fill your heart with joy and bring a smile to your face.
Rest in peace, Joe.
