Obituary of Joseph N. Currie Sr.

Joseph Nicholas Currie, Sr., 78, of Williamsville, NY sadly passed away peacefully at the Buffalo VA Medical Center on September 30, 2024 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Joe was born to Robert and Josephine Currie on May 3 1946. Joe was drafted to serve the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Upon returning he was the constant caregiver to his family retiring from General Motors following 30+ years. Joe was always willing to drop anything he was doing to assist anyone in need of carpentry, mechanical or general handyman needs. Passions that transferred to both his sons with whom he shared his knowledge. He was also a lifetime passionate hunter and fisherman sharing years with his sons and friends on the water or in the woods. He will be greatly missed by everyone whose life he has touched. Joe is predeceased by his parents Robert Currie Sr and Josephine Currie and his son Patrick Michael Currie and daughter Brianna Danielle Currie. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Kathryn Ann Currie as well as his sons Joseph Nicholas Currie, Jr. and Andrew Paul (Paulette)Currie, Sr; Grandchildren Paige Currie,Megan Ayala (Lenin), Mackenzie Currie, Andrew Currie, Jr. Siblings Robert (Cathy) Currie Jr, John (Paullette) Currie Sr, Rolland (Diane) Currie, Richard (Lynn) Currie, Marianne Currie-Hall, Tina (Robert) Heiman and many nieces and nephews. Joe’s family would like to express the utmost appreciation for the medical staff at the VA for their constant care and commitment to Joe’s treatment. Memorial services will be announced upon family decisions at a future date. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made in Joe’s name to the American Cancer society or the foundation of your choice.
