In January 2012 we had a benefit for my brother Mark, a 1979 DHS graduate who was suffering with ALS and had spent nine weeks in ICU with a huge hospital bill uncontrolled his insurance. Mr. Zac came to the benefit. He and I , a 1982 DHS graduate, had a lengthy conversation. In that he spoke fondly of my brother as his all time favorite student relating stories of conversations the two of the had! It was over 30 years after my brother had graduated and his memory of him made me proud and tearful. I always had liked him when I was a student but gained a love for him at that moment. I am saddened by his loss but he wil alway hold a special place in my heart!

Dino and Dan I heard the news from my mom. My heart goes out to you and your family. Your dad was such a good guy smart and full of wisdom. I am working out of town for another month or two. I wish I could be there. Take care of your mom you are always in my thoughts and prayers. I love you guys.

Dear Lynette
We have many fond memories while neighbors on Court Street when you and Jerry were still building your life and family and missed your friendship
He truly cared about you ,his children and students whom he involved with many projects around the house
One time he even used his writing skills to obtain information and supplies for our crocheting projects
These memories will be with us forever
Our deepest sympathies to you and to your family
Marcia and John Kutlak

May God bless Jerry and the entire family. Jerry was a former student at the University of Buffalo and more importantly a wonderful friend for many years. He was a scholar, teacher, administrator, and a great person. So glad that my late wife, Marilyn, and I got to know the Zach family. RIP with the Lord.

My dear Lynette,
Jerry and I shared a love of guitarists, particularly Eric Clapton, and over the years exchanged many Facebook posts on the subject. We also shared an affinity for the English language. It was wonderful to know such a bright, upbeat man that clearly loved you with totality. I can only imagine what you and your family are going through. I wish you peace.
Lovingly,
Susan

Know to his high school friends as "Ziggy," he was a great guy with a fine sense of humor. He once told me he was tired of his long name and was going to change it from Jerome Zwierchaczewski to Joe Zwierchaczewski. Wish I could have hung out with him later in life.
