Obituary of Dean M. Lach
Dean was man who believed in helping others ahead of himself. This was embodied in his career publicly serving the citizens of Erie County in several capacities, most notably as a health inspector for the Erie County Health Department for more than 27 years. From inspecting food in local restaurants and events to working rabies vaccination clinics, Dean was always working focused on making sure that rules were followed for the benefit of the public. He worked hard for his co-workers as well as an active member of the SEA Local 815, serving at times as a health and safety representative and grievance representative, and taking an active part in the retiree's union following his retirement in 2016. He also worked to serve his friends and neighbors, too... he was elected a Trustee in the Village of Sloan - an office he held from 1999-2003.
In his time at home, he loved to do projects... helping family, friends and neighbors with everything from decorating to home improvement and was always willing to share his cooking and homegrown tomatoes. When you were sick, it wouldn't have been unusual for you to find a bowl of his chicken soup being delivered to help you on your road to recovery. He loved to spend time with family and friends bowling and sharing any tips he'd learned along the way. He often bowled in charity events and worked hard to raise funds for good causes. He loved to travel, both with, and to visit family and friends, and loved to share his experiences with you both during those trips and upon his return.
If you were fortunate enough to know Dean, you knew he was one of a kind and would do anything he could in his unique way to help anyone. He will be greatly missed by those who were fortunate enough to spend time in this life with him.
