Obituary of Diane M. (nee Gryczkowski) Hawbaker

Of Lancaster, August 15th, 2023. Beloved wife of 45 years to Scott M Hawbaker, daughter of the late Walter and Theresa Gryczkowski. Devoted mother of Donald (Lynnette) Smith, Deirdre (Robert) Giguere, and Danielle Hawbaker. Grandmother of Robert (Cassandra) Giguere, Zachary (Kalasia) Giguere, and Stephanie Giguere. Great grandmother of Alaina and Robert. Dear sister of Rose (late Chuck) Huffman, the late Walter (Dottie) Gryczkowski, and late Fred (Donna) Gryczkowski. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Diane was a licensed beautician for 39 years and worked in her parlor on Clinton Street for many years. After her children were independent, she received her CNA certification and worked at Erie County Home for six years. When the opportunity presented itself, she advanced her skills to Erie County Medical Center where she worked another 14 years. Diane and Scott bought a 125 year old farm house in 1986, where they spent the next 35 years making it their home. Diane often said “if we made it through four years of remodeling without getting divorced, we can make it through anything!” After too many years, Scott bought Diane a brand new John Deere X390 lawn tractor which made mowing 3 acres of lawn less of a chore and became her pride and joy. Diane loved to garden and from Spring through Fall color and foliage surrounded the property. Diane loved dogs and from the time she and Scott married, there were one or more “fur babies” in the home. Awesome Paws was her favorite rescue organization. As per her wishes there will be no visitation service.
