Obituary of Helen A. (nee Mileni) Wilby
of Fort Erie, Ontario, passed away suddenly on January 28th, 2024 in Williamsville, NY.
Helen was born on July 19th, 1931 to Joseph and Maria Mileni in Buffalo, NY.
In 1955, Helen married Glennon R Wilby (predeceased), going on to have 3 children;
David (Tracy), Deborah (Diego), Daniel (Barbara), along with 7 grandchildren and 1
greatgrandchild.
Helen’s world revolved around the family she loved more than anything, however,
she would give you her opinion without flinching or apology but you were never
dismissed for your choice and she always welcomed you home when it didn’t work
out. You were met with a side of chocolate cookies, mincemeat, chicken & peas or
tuna buns. She was generous with her compliments even though they were always
accompanied with a “...but...”
In her 90’s she took a job with Good Enough Construction and helped build out her
Granddaughter’s basement. Helen loved to help around the house and there were
no projects too big or too small.
Helen always looked forward to her son Dan coming to visit and spending time
with her. She also found great joy spending time with her girls; daughter, Debby;
grandaughter, Trisha; and great grand-daughter Zoey. For the last four years,
her world revolved around Kelly, giving belly rubs and as she called her
“the best dog ever!”.
Helen was a passionate gardener and reader and when she wasn’t filling her home
with warmth and kindness, she could be found in her neighbourhood doing her daily
4 mile walk. We will miss her greatly.
Private family interment at a later date. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer
Association.
