Obituary of Edward A. "Pinky" Penkalski

Edward A. Penkalski affectionately known as Pinky, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday April 6, 2024. Mr. Penkalski was born on September 6, 1932 to the late Stephania (nee Dobsz) and Edward Penkalski. He graduated from Emerson Vocational High School Upholstery Shop Class as Valedictorian in 1951. The same day he was working as an Upholsterer at Barcalounger in the Black Rock neighborhood of Buffalo, NY. On July 4, 1952 Pinky married the former Roberta “Bird” Mauriello in St. Anthony of Padue Church in Buffalo. In 1965 after being retrained as a Machinist he was employed by the Curtis Screw Co. He was an active member of Local 55 Unit 15 of the United Auto Workers Union. He spent 23 years as a Committeeman, served as Shop Chairman until 1996 and President of the Unit 15 for 15 years. He was Local 55 Unit 15 Retiree’s President and served as Treasurer of Region 9’s CAP Program and Vice President of the Region 9 Retiree’s Council. Mr. Penkalski was a member and Vice President of probably the oldest Social Club in the Country, Kanty’s Social Club. Mr. Penkalski is the Beloved husband of the late Roberta “Bird” (nee Mauriello) Penkalski ; Devoted father of Cyndee (Peter) Stelmach, Eileen (Kathy Longton) Penkalski and the late Edward Penkalski.; Loving grandfather of Theresa (Dennis) Maciejewski, Edward (Marrissa) Penkalski IV, Thomas (Heather) Penkalski, Nicole (Dan Foss) Stelmach and Peter (Amanda) Stelmach; Cherished great grandfather of Lucas, Jacob, Chloe, Dakota, Sophia, Alet, MiKayla, Edward V and Bella; Dear brother of Estelle (late Joseph) Bykowicz; Also survived by nieces and nephews. Visitation in the Cichon-Borgosz Funeral Home Inc. 4929 Broadway, Depew, Wednesday 3-7 PM.
